“I suppose we all lie to ourselves sometimes.”

Tell me sweet little lies.  Especially that on a Sunday.

Read it and weep.

What no call backs?  No return emails?  Surely you aren't that busy any other day than Monday or Tuesday?

In the article linked above it appears that there is waspish tone coming from those interviewed.

Interesting, it seemed like yesterday that I received a email with various screen shots about a "associate" of the Manure Menagerie.  Let me refresh your memory.  How is that balancing act going for you?

Of course I have to add insult to injury.

I would love to hear about her feelings on a "rescue" that has dealers license?  Especially one that makes regular visits to the property.

Ho hum.  What a indomitable statement we have here.

knock. knock. mother f*cker.

Honesty is the soul of business.

I have been in a share type of mood a lot here lately.  Call me generous if you will.

This is a mini.  Minis do not ship.

It is a nice demonstration of the extreme lengths  they are willing to venture to for a meal ticket. Enjoy those meals while you can!  I heard prison food isn't what it's cracked up to be.

Moving Forward in Reverse

Since life has kept some of us very busy.
Another update of the truck is coming sage is due.

We can't forget about the men that make these contemptible programs happen.  So, let me be the first to tip my hat to all of you.

We shall revisit the Moore Fleet seen here in this  blog  The Truck is Coming.  Now, if you would like to know more about just how that truck comes along, feel free to read up here The Ethics of Equine Rescue.

It appears as if Mr. Moore only has a intrastate CDL, meaning there is no traveling outside of the state of PA.

So, for those of you that have seen Mr.Moore's rigs at Unidallia, and other out of state auctions.  Snap a pic, because  the DOT would love to see it.  (they even have fax available.).

I would also like to add, it does not matter who he puts behind the wheel.

And since we all know that despite what goes on in the public eye, there is also the seedy underbelly, people at the sales barn should be aware that paying Phil Shirk to haul for you is bad news.  Seems as Phil has failed to stay in good standing with the U.S. DOT.

Seems after a nice conversation with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration they were a tad considered that he was still operating.

Feel free to hit the link above if you catch him hauling loads, DOT would love to hear from you.

You can also voice your concerns here in the local field offices. (and note fax is also available to share those lovely pictures.)

Maybe it's time for those that fortunate sides with on a dare changes.

Beware of a friend that was once your foe.

I really wanted to write about some concerning issues with the Centre Hall Auction, and the large Memorial Day New Holland sale, and of course, the hustlers of the horse world, and the corrupt individuals allowing them to carry on.  However, we all need to enjoy a laugh now and again.

Someone sent this lovely screen shot to me, and I had to indulge and share.

Birds of a feather flock together?

Let me say that I admire this Jules woman, she's a no holds bar, tell it how it is, was, and should be type.  Jules, I raise my ice cold pint to you, and say Cheers my dear, keep giving them hell!

As with all things in the truck is coming saga, frienenemies are second to none, and this is simply case in point.  It wasn't too long ago these two chicanery horse dealers were anything but friendly with one another.

I leave you with this to digest "your friend lends and your enemy ask for payment."

Oh, one last introspection for those that I am sure will be vehement over this entry.

Tick, toc, tick, toc.  After all that was no social call.

Cheers!

Let Them Eat Cake

Every now again a marionette is subject to having their strings snipped.  As most marionette's manipulate the strings to their puppets, there is a always a audience watching, and always that one pundit in attendance.

I have to wonder at times the amount of schlemiels that find time to make silly facebook videos, signs, posts, babbling nothing more than shit ton of ludicrous out rage over the heated debate of Broker Programs.  Some of these very individuals should mind just what they put out there into Internet land.  I say this grace, because some do work with the public, and not to mention in the private sector where it truly is all about relationships and representation of oneself as a Representative of a company, and or a authority type of figure.

In our world it is simplistic, black and white, backed by investigations, FOIA, and hours of dredging threw pens, lots, and even trucks.   As we prepare for the large sale at New Holland Sales Stable, I wonder just how many will truly be paying attention to the ongoings of the surroundings.  Horses tied out with no food or water, the temperature, signs of communicable illness, lameness, BCS, evidence of drugs, over crowded pens, or will they be simply busy justifying the ends to the means.

With such tumultuous words and insults tossed around, do these people really pay attention to what is going on around them?  Or better yet who is around them?  Who is watching them?  Of course not, because "it's all about the horses".   Or should I say all about the dollars.

As some step past the obvious violations, and ignore clear disregard for laws put forth, we shall not.  After all you have a job to do, and so do I.  It's formidable that we are on two very different sides, one driven by money, and one driven by compassion.

After all "to greed, all nature is insufficient."

See you gentlemen Monday.
Cheers.

The Stalking Horse Bid.

Recently this has appeared on a major social media website.

Of course the kill buyer is not a bad guy at all.  Despite past quotes such as "if it burned it burned."  in reference to the recent truck fire that left 30 head of horses to perish, and regarding TBs going to slaughter "if they put ten dollars a week to feed the homeless people and mistreated children, you know, this would be a totally different".  Seems as if these quotes don't exactly line up with with what Pro Kill Buyer supporters are saying.  I leave you with this.

A picture taken some time ago outside of what was once the one and only collecting station.  It seems as there is now a additional one.

you may at this point draw your own conclusion, but I know what side I stand on, and it's not enabling the kill buyers to expand their operation.  I assume it is nothing more than the Devil in the details.

Cheers.

Knock..knock...who's there?????

Well, it finally seems as if that elusive truck has arrived, made a stop, and even picked up some goods along the way.  Sadly, it's not the truck we are so use to hearing about.  Instead it was a convoy of vehicles  from none other than the F.B.I.    Where did they stop?  They stopped right at Christy Sheidy's house, I wonder if she had a "oh shit" moment, when she realized that all the time she shouted the truck was coming, she had the make and model number wrong.

I remember once her proclaiming that they were NOT under investigation, hmmmm, well I can assure you that when the F.B.I stops at your home, it's not for tea and crumpets.  I can also say, that when they leave carrying boxes of items, computers, and cell phones,  it is because well you have clearly been under investigation, after all warrants  don't lie, and judge's don't sign off on just a whim.  Unless they were there helping you with your organizational skills, which I wasn't aware that the F.B.I. provided those services.  I will keep that in mind.

"Tap. Tap. Tap." Remember that one?  I sure do, I wonder if you regret tapping that foot of yours.  I guess now, it should be tick, tock, tick, tock.  Huh?

I would like to dully note some rebuttal from the Sheidy Hen House, so let's clear the air right here.

"when horses get transported across State lines, yeah it can become a federal investigation"  Well geniuses, in that case I would say that ninety percent of Equestrian Community is then guilty and should be under Federal Investigation.   Oh and yes, it's nothing more than a paragraph from some reporter trying to make news, never mind the pictures of Federal Investigators carrying out boxes of items from that place that rivals a county tip.    For those seeking to read that meaningless paragraph, you know the one where the reporter is just grasping for a bit of fame, here you go FBI Raid.

Smoke'em while you can, because most penitentiaries are now Non-Smoking facilities.

If you are going to walk on thin ice, you might as well dance.

Last night, I was told that I am walking on thin ice, the title of this blog was my simple response.   If you are going to walk on thin ice, you might as well dance.
                                                           Care to dance?

Seems as if it's business as usual for all things in the "truck is coming saga".  More horses, more money, and more laughing all the way to the bank.  Horse dealing is the world's oldest putrid profession.  From the Kill Buyers, to the flippers, right down to the brokers  that use the term "rescue"  so flagrantly.

What is really the deal with these go betweens?  I mean first and foremost, most of these guys are third and fourth generation horse dealers, not Rotz he was a puppy miller who provided labs with canines to test on.  Harker, Moore, Andio, and the list is long are all horse dealers by trade, and not just Meat Men.   Selling, trading, and running horses not just paying enough of the bills?  Is the absorption in your contracts just not good enough, for you to make a clear profit?  No hang weight is going to pay 925.00 dollars for a carcass, or even 600.00 dollars, hell even on the hoof you won't see that type of money, as there are very specific things they are looking for, high yield of  meat, and low bone.  But, that is another blog.

So, boys riddle me this, if the industry is paying you so well, why do it?  Let me take a stab at it, because you couldn't make a living without having that "kill buyer" title could you?  After all with no truck coming,  flipping horses would be left to your own vices, and not the intercessor that you have come to rely on.

There is no secret about the speculation that people are skimming off the top, in fact one brain child behind Sundew Saves, has spoken out very obnoxiously about money being taken off the top.  A far cry from bailing, sharing, and even defending this very program.  While Sundew doesn't proclaim to be a rescue, just a simple community effort to "save" the slaughter bound horses.  (It's more of a community effort to pay one's bills.)   I beg to differ and say, maybe the rumors surrounding poor Bruce losing part of his contract to be true, but I am doubtful.  I think Bruce and Co. have just simply pulled a page right out of the "truck is coming" handbook.     Maybe Bruce isn't over loading that shitty barn of his now, after all having thirty head get out, and make a run for it down the road, can't be good for business, or make neighbors happy.   Well, one thing is for certain, seems as if there is another propagate to take the reins.

Oh look, not one horses ass, but apparently two in the same picture.  It's by a clear view that I can say the Esteemed Kill Buyer Bruce Rotz's facial expressions seem to be genetic.  Cheers.

The Cat's Meow

Seems as if things in PA are finally coming full circle.  Especially on the tracks for Penn Gaming.   As browsing earlier today, I came across a rather interesting post.  I was ready to break out the booze, and sing from the roof tops.  But, I shall wait patiently until more becomes uncovered.

But, if you follow my "the Truck is Coming Saga" and all things shady when it comes to the flippers and shippers, this name should ring a bell.  Seems as Phil Shirk just can't stay off the radar now can he?  Paulick Report there it is folk, right there.  That is correct you read it right.  And for those of you that didn't click on the link, let me just quote it here for you "Ed Price has resigned as VP Pennsylvania Horse Breeders Association after Thomas McClay horse he sold to Phil Shirk went to New Holland kill pen."   Well let's put a face with the name Phil Shirk, as Phil has made news on my blogs before for his known neglect, and mistreatment of a Standardbred left in his care.  He is also well known for his man handling, and often brutal ways of  dealing with horses.  So, without further ado.
That my friends is Mr.Phil Shirk, and if you do some googling, you can even pull his DOT number for his "hauling" business.

Anyone that knows these low life dealers, know they just don't show up for only one horse.  What it leads to me ask, is one since Mr. Price sold this very horse to Phil Shirk, I would be curious as to know what happened to others?  There is no secret that Phil Shirk has been in bed with Brian Moore for a long time, after all Phil Shirk is a hustler in the horse trade, and what better way to make a quick buck than to get in bed with one of the local Kill Buyers.  (why do I feel like I am seeing a trend here amongst people?)  There is no secret that Brian has what is referred to as "direct ship" pen, horses that are from the backside of Penn National, horses that are never to be identified, horses that are never to be spoken of, and horses that are to be disposed of quietly.  It's the racing industry's dirty little secret, not so secret now, is it?  Was this a hauling job for Moore?  I mean when you look at the bigger picture, it would make sense.  As Brian Moore is very well known as a kill buyer, and would easily be recognized by his trucks and trailers.  So, what is a business man to do, simple, send in a henchman to pick the load up, after all there has to be away to get around that pesky zero tolerance policy right?   That is how it is done.  Very clear, very black and white.  The only grey area would be, was that horse left with Phil as payment from Moore?   After all, we know no one does shit for free.  Keep Brian's face in mind when you decide that it's time for your horse to go to auction, or your horse isn't running the way you would like.  My friends for something to haunt your dreams, here is Brian Moore himself.

Of course and I must not forget his right hand man, as seen at Middleburg, Unidalla, and of course good ole New Holland.  I present Chuck Beam or known as Chuckie Beam.

Remember these faces, know who to look for especially on the back sides of the tracks.  Know where your horses go, and even if it's not your horse, speak up, let it be known.  Often too many times people stay quiet about what goes on, so how does the problem stop if know one is willing to speak up?

Follow the Dollar Signs

Following the dollar signs is like the yellow brick road of horse dealing.  The question is, what Wizard does it lead you to?  Rotz?  Moore?  Carper?  Andio?

It appears that the word has finally gotten out about the dealers in the business, I mean "rescues" a term that I loosely use for obvious reasons.  It seems some have gotten their panties in a bunch, while others sent their minions into battle in a lame effort to advocate for their horse flipping ways, or justify lining the pockets of the kill buyers.  According to them, logic is faulty, math is wrong, and others are well nothing more than horse haters that just sit behind a screen all day, and bash the do gooders of the dealing business, sorry, Horse Rescue.  I wasn't aware that the only way to call yourself a do good er was to just donate sums of money to shady rescues, and cross post horses that are at inflated prices, and get various personal messages from a certain "do gooder" stating that "slander is costly".   Of course and the other obvious messages "I save horses what do you do?!?"  While all of this brings a chuckle to me, and a head scratch, it makes me wonder if this type of knee jerk reaction is a effort to justify the means.  Seeing as a couple suffer from low self esteem, and need the constant reassurance of others that they are angels, and no one has a heart as big as theirs, and blah, blah, blah.

Rescue is thankless, people don't say thank you, I try to remember to say thank you when assisting with various cases, and in most cases I do remember, and I always say "if no one else says thank you, let me be the first to do it".  These cases are not inflated priced, non shipping, OH MY GOD THE TRUCK IS COMING !!!!!! horses, these are bad cases from the auction, the ten dollars, the twenty dollars, the hospice, and the ones that would never be good cash cows, not broke, semi feral, aggressive types.  The type you never see end up in a broker program 90 percent of the time.  Of course some of those types do end up on the broker pages, but they are simply described as "green", needs more handling, a little nervous, you get the picture.   These are horses that end up just hanging out until rainbow bridge, they get to be pasture puffs, and while in some cases they never leave, they are fed, loved for who they are, and live in peace.

I have written time and time again about the flippers, shakers, movers of all things in the "truck is coming saga", I have made clear enemies, and sneaky people attempting to identify me, and those just looking for information.  One thing is clear, that despite what the do gooders, and minions think, there are a lot of people just like me, out there in the thick of it, drudging threw the pens, watching, listening, and learning.  And exposing, holding those accountable for cruelty, and neglect, being a voice for the voiceless, advocating for better enforcement, stricter laws, uncovering loop holes, and I can tell you, we don't get a thank you, and we sure as hell don't get paid to do it.  Just some food for thought, for all those pointing fingers declaring we sit behind computers all day judging.  However I would like to leave you with this until next time.....

The Ethics Of Equine Rescue posted  "The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions."  Something more to think about when handing over your dollars, or advocating for those that chose to enable the industry.

Take the Call.

This should be self explanatory.

While browsing the local social media websites, I came across one of the most preposterous things I have seen in a while.  Which when it comes to the broker programs, you would think that you have read it all.  No.

Sundew Saves made a shocking revelation, one so great, that I spit out a perfectly good mouth full of stout.  After mourning the loss of what seems to be wasted alcohol, I decided to blog about it.

According to those that run Sundew Saves, there is a lack of horses at New Holland, there for driving up the price the kill buyer(s) must pay to fill his (their) loads.  And there are according to the dealers just not that many horses around.  Hmmmmmmmmmmm...
Ponder that a minute, that's right ponder it, contemplate it.  Bullshit.  Is that what came to mind with you?  Because it has to be one of the most absurd things I have heard in a long time, next to "we don't make any money off these horses" line.

What twat waffle fails to realize, and many of her blind followers, is that there was a very large sale at Mel Hoover's auction on 2/2/2013, that ran threw over two hundred head of horses.  At that sale of course, was Mr.Sunshine himself Bruce Rotz, Chuck Beam who purchases for Brian Moore, and a host of other low life dealers.  You can read more about that auction here at Animal Angels. ( I encourage you to read, and pay close attention to the fact that not one, but two horses had a severe case of Strangles.)

Well, this leads to me believe two things.  One, being the absolute most important, is that making such a bold statement, will only lead people to pay a even more absurd amount of money for these broker horses, after all the higher price has just been justified in their minds.  Two, anyone who purchased horses from AC$H, should really be careful as I did spot some horses from the Hoover sale in their broker program, and that means they do run the risk of having Strangles, or being exposed.  (of course buyer beware, Bruce was there buying horses up also, however it would be nothing new, as a large majority of horses coming from Bruce are sick, lame, or a combination.  The healthy fat ones are the ones that you don't see, as they are shipped, after all he has contracts to fulfill.)  Seems as the apple doesn't fall far from the tree there, now does it Sundew Saves??

So, in conclusion here, you the general public will justify paying a absurd amount of a horse that was bought with intentions of resale.  I know, I know...that's not true at all, or so I have been told, thank you anonymous for sending me pictures of horses that had the green tag slapped on them, that were sold in the broker program recently.  But, I counter that..first pretty pictures justifying the cause of these people lining the pockets of these crooks.

This is one of the pictures sent to me privately.  Horse appears to be in good condition,  however it doesn't mean that all is golden in the Land of Oz.    This said horse presented signs of illness, so the vet would not sign off on the required USDA paperwork to ship her.  Loss of money for Bruce?  NOT A CHANCE!  This is why the broker programs exist.  He didn't lose a dime off this horse, in fact he made his money back, and a little more.

I would like to ask this, since the status of this said horse changed, along with a few others, did you notify the auction house Bruce?  Did you pull a coggins within the required amount of time by the statues set forth by the state of PA?

The slaughter of horses is a bit intricate, with a number of regulations that rarely get followed, ok, not rarely, never.  Why aren't they enforcing these said regulations?  Because there is only a small group of individuals jumping up and down, filing complaints, exposing the truths, and fighting the good fight.  While the rest is busy ensuring that there is no shortage of cash flow into the bloody hands of these crooks, and killers.  Here is another thought, I have seen a number of increased Thoroughbreds making their way threw Bruce's collecting station.  What changed in less than a year? After all Richelieu and Bouvry made public statements saying they were backing away from accepting TBs. Funny, I have seen Bruce purchase a number of tattooed TBs at auctions, not just New Holland (remember there are more than just New Holland in PA), ones that never appeared in this broker program.  Care to explain that one?  Should we talk about the backside of tracks, that you are still receiving horses from?

You want to know Bruce's thoughts on saving horses??  Here have a good read on the DRF.  Pay close attention to the last paragraph.  Not exactly the compassionate man, that Chicken Little and Sundew Saves paints him to be now is he?

Time for your daily affirmation.  Keep putting that money in the hands of these people and you have just allowed them to have a endless supply of monies to purchase even more horses,  think I am wrong, visit Ohio sometime, and look at the increased number of equines Andio is able to purchase since he can pawn of the lame, or sick on the general public, all it takes is a tug at the heart string, and plea, let's not forget the threat of that green tag being slapped on the withers.  Think about the bigger effect that  John Q. Public is having on the industry by relentlessly supporting these broker programs.  Be part of the solution, not the problem.

Common Sense?

The mishaps of life, and who you are involved with, will eventually catch up with you.  Being a shady horse dealer, is like being a fast chick with a reputation.  Word gets around, not only are you considered easy, but sleazy.

Of course most of you reading this, some are very familiar with the AC$H scamming.  The truck is coming, the truck is coming, we must save them.  In short, here is the run down.  They are a registered 501c3, non profit who "rescue, rehab, and adopt" (for reference please read the following Rip Off Report,  there is of course more than one compliant out there.  But, as rule of thumb in life, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.  So, ladies and gentleman I present to you a copy cat verision Rip Off Report #2).  Now, while copy cat is not 501c3, this lovely woman has a pending 501c3 rescue because she is just such a wonderful caring individual, who is not in it for the money (excuse me while I gag) Sundew Saves.  We will catch up with them in a minute.  For the moment, I want to clear up how the broker programs work.

Broker programs are a host of horse dealers, errrr, I mean rescue efforts designed to give slaughter bound horses a second chance at life.  Sounds like a absolutely lovely, and heart felt thing to do.  The dedication and the work, the time, and effort of dealing with this cold hearted men who send horses off to Canada and to Mexico.  So, what's in it for them?  Well it's saving the horses, the love of equines, knowing that they have defied the odds and put these animals into forever homes.  And let me say this, if you buy that load of bull I just wrote, you may want to rethink where your money goes.

These people are not doing this for free, between 25 dollar donation fees, over priced coggins, and health certificates (which some cannot even get right), and not to mention the inflated prices. They are getting their cut..dare I say look at the 990 forms that are filed for non profits, the proof is in the pudding right there.  Non Profits often do have paid employees, and expenses, but sometimes it makes one wonder how after seven hundred thousand dollars, there are little to no expenses paid out.  Good job IRS, for keeping a eye on these things, but that is getting a touch off subject.

How broker programs work, or should I just be blunt and say horse flipping.  Ok, it's a fairly simple equation.  Person X (and or group) find a in with a kill buyer, or a ex kill buyer who no longer holds a contract, or a individual or group of individuals that supply the kill buyer, and they simply cross post, or take pretty pictures (honestly if you are reading this, you could of found someone with much better photography skills to do the pictures, nothing like over exposed, blurry pics, etc.)  and say that the dealer or kill buyer has set the price.  Now, while this is true, they will often tag on a extra hundred or so dollars to the the original price paid for the horse, you must account for the troubles that Person X has gone threw, price of gas, time of those fantastic photography skills, the poor quality of video show casing what a wonderful moving horse it is, and how quiet said horse is, and of course their description of the horse, and the identifying the breed of the horse, and even the sex (if you are lucky and they can tell the difference between a mare, a gelding, and a stud, but don't hold your breath on that one).   And naturally what the sales recommendation was (now keep in mind this is a subject we will touch on later, because that my friends is a whole another blog, hell could be a novel).   So, now after we have done all these things, we then list the horse out, most naturally on social networking websites, fastest way to get people to bail these poor souls.  Most people don't think twice about the prices, which can range between 300 up to 1200.   They donate, directly bail, based on a whim, and heart tug, and the good word of these dealers, oh I mean rescues.   The Killy Buyer collects his bottom price, what he absolutely sets a must have for the horse, and anything left over goes into the pockets of Person X, what happens to that money is beyond me, and that is like a million dollar question, sure we can all speculate, in fact dare I say let your imagination run wild on that one.

Now over a course of time, we have obvious persons willing to come forward and talk about the profiting side of it, and of course those are lies according to the accused.  But, what does common sense tell you?  I realize that common sense, is really not all that common, so that is a bit of stretch I suppose.  It's nice to see the horse dealing business hasn't changed in the past thirty some years, and that well if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, well hot damn it must be a duck.

Here is the truth that no one, or very few will say to you, and when I say you, I mean those that have had that "feel good moment" of saving one of these slaughter bound horses.  That horse, was in no danger of shipping, maybe to another auction, maybe to another dealer who likes to wheel and deal.  But, to the truck and on it's way to be dinner. No.  There are standards (yes I know, hard to believe) when taking these horses for slaughter, and rules, and regulations.  I would be lying if I said every aspect was followed, and they adhere to the standards set forth by CFIA, and the E.U.  We do know that this is a business, and well money is money, and lost money is a bummer.  From a business stand point, why chance shipping a horse that will go down on the trailer, that's a loss profit, right?  Body scores, lameness, and so forth all play parts in horses that may or may not be shipping.  But, that my friend is another blog.  In the mean time, I would like to just say this.  Yes, it feels good to say I saved that horse from going on a truck to become someone's dinner.  But, ask yourself this, because you just paid a absurd amount of money for a "broker" horse, how many other horses did you just put on that very truck?   Not just as a consumer, but also as a rescuer.  You may think that you saved one, but you just sentenced two or three, maybe even four to become dinner.  The horses that you are seeing listed, and promoted, are not fit for shipping, the horses that are fit for shipping, you will never see because they are already loaded on the trailer, or in the personal lots of these people awaiting their final destination.  Just food for thought.
